Since the teams met back in May, St. Louis have posted a 3-1-0 record, outscoring their opponents 10-2 in that stretch. CITY SC are currently on a three-game win streak after taking down Sporting KC (4-0), Vancouver Whitecaps (3-1) and Houston Dynamo (3-0), all at home. Following their win against Vancouver, CITY SC made history by becoming the quickest expansion team in MLS history to record 25 points, doing so in 13 games. CITY SC now sits atop the MLS Western Conference with 28 points, with a 9-4-1 record.

CITY took the early lead against Houston after midfielder Eduard Löwen powered his penalty kick past Houston’s goalkeeper in the ninth minute. Tomáš Ostrák and Niko Gioacchini added to their season tally in the second half to ensure another home win for the hosts. Goalkeeper Roman Bürki made four saves to record his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Löwen opened the scoring with a set-piece goal for the third consecutive match – a penalty against Sporting KC, a free-kick against Vancouver and a penalty against Houston. St. Louis now has three players with five goals in MLS – Klauss, Löwen and Gioacchini.

With their three-goal win against Houston, St. Louis has marked eight games with at least three goals in 14 games played this season. The LA Galaxy (1998) is the only other team to score 3+ goals in as many games. CITY SC remains undefeated (7-0-1) in MLS action when they score first this season. St. Louis’ 28 points, 9 wins, 32 goals and a +18-goal difference in their first 14 regular season matches are all MLS records for an expansion team at this stage of a season.

FC Dallas sits in fourth place in the MLS Western Conference with 23 points and a 6-5-5 record. Since the two teams met in May, Dallas has posted a 2-2-2 record, with four of their six points coming at home. In their last match, Dallas fell 2-1 to Nashville despite outshooting their opponents 14-7.

FC Dallas has won 17 of its 22 home matches against expansion teams (17-2-3), including winning 11 of the last 13 at Toyota Stadium. Nashville SC is the only expansion team since 2010 to earn any points at Dallas, recording a win and a draw in 2020.
