St. Louis CITY SC returns to CITYPARK this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CST for another Western Conference matchup against Colorado Rapids. The match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and can be heard by our radio partners on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

In their last match, St. Louis earned a 2-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes at PayPal Park. CITY SC rallied behind a clinical performance from Sam Adeniran, who after scoring the opener just before halftime, converted a penalty in the 58th minute to nullify San Jose’s equalizer two minutes into the second half. With the win, CITY SC won both home and away fixtures against an MLS team in the same season for the first time in history. St. Louis is the first team to defeat San Jose at PayPal Park in 13 home games, a streak dating back to August 3rd of last season.

St. Louis’ forward Adeniran was recalled from his loan ahead of the clash against San Jose. Prior to his loan spell at San Antonio FC, Adeniran made four appearances as a sub for CITY SC in MLS. In his first match back for CITY SC, Adeniran made his first start and scored his first and second MLS goals, earning a spot in the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 21. Josh Yaro and Aziel Jackson also made their first MLS starts for St. Louis.

Adeniran is the 12th player to score in MLS action and 14th player to score across all competitions for CITY SC this season. With his brace, Adeniran joins João Klauss, Jackson and Indiana Vassilev as players who have at least one multi-goal game for CITY SC across all competitions.

St. Louis CITY SC captain Roman Bürki recorded a game-high eight saves in the win against San Jose. Bürki has three games this season where he made at least eight saves (03/25/2023 vs Real Salt Lake - 8, 04/22/2023 vs Colorado Rapids - 12, 06/24/2023 vs San Jose Earthquakes - 8) – more than any other MLS goalkeeper this season.  Bürki ranks number one in the league for saves with 76 and has recorded four clean sheets with a 76% save percentage.

With his assist on CITY SC’s first goal, Rasmus Alm has six goal contributions (two goals, four assists) in MLS this season. St. Louis CITY SC is 8-3-2 when Alm plays and are 2-4-0 when he is absent.

CITY SC sits at the top of the MLS Western Conference with 32 points after 19 games. After a historic 5-0-0 start to the season, St. Louis CITY SC became the first Western Conference team this season and the second-fastest MLS expansion team ever to record 10 wins.

CITY SC hosts Colorado Rapids at CITYPARK for the first time in its young history on Saturday. When the two teams met in Colorado earlier this season, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Alm was on the scoresheet after tucking home Jared Stroud’s cross while Bürki recorded an impressive 12 saves.

St. Louis CITY SC are 6-3-1 at home in MLS this season, scoring 24 goals in the process. CITY SC has nine different players (João Klauss, Niko Gioacchini, Stroud, Eduard Löwen, Vassilev, Kyle Hiebert, Alm, Tomáš Ostrák, Adeniran) that have multiple goals this MLS season, more than any other team in the league.

The Rapids are coming off a 0-0 draw against LA Galaxy in their last match. The Rapids are winless in their last eight matches (0-6-2 record), with their last win (3-1) coming on May 6, away to LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Colorado sits in 14th place in the MLS Western Conference. Across their last ten matches against expansion teams playing in their inaugural seasons, Colorado Rapids are 3-5-2 overall. In the away matches over that span, the team is 1-3-0 with a minus-three goal differential.
