CITY Goes Purple for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

PurpleLeash

Along with our partners at Purina, we’re proud to show our support for the Purple Leash Project this year during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purina is leading the way built on the belief that pets and people are better together. At CITY, we believe in our community.

The Purple Leash Project is a partnership with RedRover, built on the mission of strengthening the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering. This work helps to make more domestic violence shelters become pet-friendly so that people and pets can escape the abuse and heal together. In addition to lighting up our home in purple, we want to bring more awareness to the facts and greater support for this critical issue.

  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetimes.
  • Nearly half (48%) of all survivors delay leaving because they don’t want to leave their pets behind.
  • Only 15% of domestic violence shelters in the U.S. accept pets.

To date, our partners at Purina have donated more than $1M to help make more domestic violence shelters across the country pet friendly and provide resources for survivors.
